This week is a series on Holy Week, or Passion Week, the last week of Jesus’ earthly life. The timeline of that week isn’t completely certain, but it paints a general picture.
Things were pretty quiet in Jerusalem on Wednesday. Apparently, Jesus stayed in Bethany with His friends. This was the day a woman anointed Him with her insanely expensive perfume (from the alabaster box we’ve all heard about). The disciples were fussing over her wasting something so expensive. They thought a better idea would be to sell the perfume in order to benefit the poor. Jesus defended her for doing something beautiful for Him.
This was also the day Judas approached the Pharisees about betraying Jesus. Today’s verse is one that I’ve never noticed before, but as I was reading over the different Gospel accounts of this day, it caught my attention. It isn’t pleasant for a verse of the day, but I think it’s a good warning for us to stay alert. Be on guard against Satan entering you!
Take time this week to remember what Jesus went through during this Holy Week, over 2000 years ago, for OUR benefit!
Have a blessed & beautiful day!
