Hi, I’m Susan, the owner of Homestyle Faith. I am a 30-something country girl just trying to live for God on the way through my visit on this earth. God is my Father, Comforter, Savior, Provider, you name it. He has done so much for me that I could never deserve. The least I can do is try to glorify Him in everything I do. I am so thankful for His grace and mercy, because regardless of my good intentions, I need forgiveness every day.
My current favorite Bible verse is 1 Thessalonians 4:11 – Aspire to live a quiet life, mind your own affairs, and work with your hands. I only became familiar with this verse in the last year. It really spoke to me, because that’s how I try to live my life. I never knew it was biblical, but I love that it is!
I love the country life. I’m not fanatic about being off-grid or self-sufficient (hard to do with no green thumb!), but I do a few things that make sense to me. I have a few chickens (fresh eggs), many cats (critter control), and a dog, of course. She isn’t your average farm-dog though. Jazzy is a Miniature Pinscher whose favorite job is curling up next to her mama, although she will gladly chase a possum away from the house.
I am a weight-loss success story, although I still have a long way to go. I am currently 94 pounds down from my highest recorded weight. People ask me how I did it, and I really didn’t do much. Eating out used to be a hobby, and I think the weight-loss started when that slowed down. Eventually I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, so I made significant changes to my way of eating. Probably the most effective change I made was to stop drinking sugar. Dr. Pepper was my go-to drink. If I decided to drink something healthier, I would make iced green tea, with lots of sugar added. Since the day I was diagnosed, I haven’t drank anything sugary. Dr. Pepper is missed at times, but water has become my new go-to. I do still occasionally make iced green tea, but I sweeten it with a stevia blend.
I am now somewhat doing the Trim Healthy Mama plan. I say somewhat, because I’m not on-plan all the time. Some days are better than others. I may never reach my ideal weight, but that’s okay, because I’m healthier than I have been in a long time. I’ve finally reached a point in my life where it feels good to make healthy decisions – although I still make plenty of unhealthy choices!
What is Homestyle Faith, you ask? Homestyle Faith started as a craft business. I enjoy many types of crafts, including sewing and crochet. I’ve tried a few different avenues of selling my creations, most of which did not work out very well. At this time, the only thing I really do is take orders. Custom orders are always welcome. I may eventually try to sell through this website – really not sure yet.
Homestyle Faith is still a craft business, but also a faith-based blog. I’m really not sure what direction it will take. The content of posts will be a surprise for now. I know God will guide the way.
Thank you for reading. I hope you will stick around to see what God has in store.
